Our Church History
1961
Sandy Valley Baptist temple was Founded
The church was founded by Rev. Daniel Shaffer on September 10, 1961
1961
Store Front Days
After the church was started they were able to rent a store front to hold services in each week. They rented this building for 10 years.
1970
A Permanent Church Building
In 1970, Pastor Shaffer was sold a 5- acre parcel of land for $1.00! The parcel of land was located on Elson Street in Magnolia. The church broke ground in 1972 and the building was completed in 1973.

The New Church Addition
The church was growing! Pastor Bob Hutton proposed a blue print for an addition that would include a larger auditorium, 4 new church offices, 5 new classrooms, a fellowship hall, and a mission apartment. This addition was completed and dedicated September 9th, 2001.

Meet our Pastor
Pastor Daniel Sunde grew up in North Pole, AK, and graduated from North Pole High School in 1993. In July 1989, he was saved at Twin Bears Camp and a member of Bible Baptist Church, Fairbanks, AK. After graduating from high school he joined the United States Marine Corps and served as a Combat Engineer. While attending Massillon Baptist College, Dr. Sunde surrendered to full-time Christian Service on September 9, 1997. Pastor Sunde received his Bachelor of Divinity from Massillon Baptist College in 1998. While attending the Massillon Baptist College, he was involved in the following ministries: soul winning, youth ministry, King’s Kids, and preached in local nursing homes.
After graduation from Massillon Baptist College, Pastor Sunde served as Youth Pastor at Sandy Valley Baptist Temple under the leadership of Pastor Bob Hutton for over four years. While at Sandy Valley, he was asked to pray and consider becoming the Youth Pastor at Massillon Baptist Temple. He accepted the invitation and became the Youth Pastor on September 8, 2002 and in 2003 began teaching in the Massillon Baptist College. Pastor Sunde received his Doctorate of Ministry, from Andersonville Theological Seminary in October 2004. After serving for nearly sixteen years, Pastor Sunde and his family moved to Oak Grove, KY to serve as Assistant Pastor at Maranatha Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Dave Noffsinger. As the Lord worked on his heart, Dr. Sunde felt the call to Pastor. His family moved back to Ohio and on August 8, 2021, he was called to Pastor the Sandy Valley Baptist Temple.
As Pastor of Sandy Valley Baptist Temple, Dr. Sunde is excited to be “home” again and to seeks to fulfill the vision that God has placed on his heart for the valley, of being used of God to help grow devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Dr. Daniel Sunde married his wife, Tiffany (Domer) on September 12, 1998, at the Massillon Baptist Temple by Dr. Thomas Crowley. They are the parents of one son—Josiah.
Colossians 1:28-29 are Dr. Sunde’s favorite verses. “Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.” Pastor Sunde enjoys coffee, the outdoors (nature/hiking), reading, and vacations with his family.
