How to know Jesus and be Saved

"And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." (1 John 5:11-13)
God deeply loves you and desires to have a relationship with you. Would you sincerely believe the following truths from the Bible?

The Problem we all face - Sin

All of us are sinners by nature. Romans 5:12 says, Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned, All of us are sinners by choice. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Sin is anything contrary to the character and nature of God, and those sins that I have committed separate me from God.

Romans 5:12         Romans 3:23

The Penalty we all owe -
Separation from God

Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” The “wage” or payment for our sin is spiritual death, and eternal separation from God. Revelation 20:14-15 says, “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” Sin’s penalty cannot be erased by good works or by simply confessing that you’ve done wrong. That would be like a murderer saying, “I promise not to do it again.” The crime has been committed and there is a penalty to be paid. Religions try to create their own way to God. Their systems may seem logical, but they cannot erase or pay the penalty created by our sin. In Ephesians 2:8-9 the Bible says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Romans 6:23           Revelation 20:14-15  Ephesians 2:8-9

The Provision of God - Substitution

Even though we are separated from God and deserving of Hell, God loves us and because He is love, He became a man and died on the cross to pay our penalty in full. John 3:16 - “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Romans 5:8 - “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 - “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” Through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, He became the payment for our sin. Our debt has been paid in full!

John 3:16             Romans 5:8
1 Corinthians 15:3-4

The Promise of God - Salvation

Romans 10:9-10 - “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” John 1:12 - “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”
In order to experience a life-changing relationship with God we must stop trusting ourselves, our works, and our religion, and place our complete trust in Jesus Christ alone for the forgiveness of our sin and the gift of eternal life. Romans 10:13 - “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Romans 10:9-10    John 1:12   Romans 10:13

The Decision

The above verse is a promise from God that if you will call out to Him, confess that you are a sinner, ask Him to forgive your sins, and turn to Him alone to be your Saviour; He promises to save you and give you the free gift of eternal life. You can express your belief through a simple prayer from your heart:

"Dear God, I know that I am separated from you because of sin. I confess that in my sin, I cannot save myself. Right now, I turn to you alone to be my Saviour. I am placing my dependence upon you alone to forgive my sins, and give me eternal life. Thank you for saving me. Amen."

Did you just now - the best you knew how - transfer your dependence to Christ alone to save you from sin and hell? If so, God’s Word promises you eternal life! That is a decision that you will never regret!
